Song Of Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                           Song Of Despair Part- 16
                                                (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

Would that my words influence the Muslim mind!
Be alarming enough to awaken the sleeping mind!

So that they revive with new commitment of faith!
So that they again make their love divine!

Though this presentation is not Arab, but the spirit is Qur’anic!
Though the song is Hindi, but the message is Islamic!

Song Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                            Song Of Despair Part- 15
                                                    (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

The elite took to serving the victor,
The Ummah shattered and got destroyed,

                                    Their tradition and culture perished,
Their identity finished, they became deprived,

In spite of all this Iqbal remained defiant,
He continued to encourage, to rise and fight.

There is no pleasure in living nor taste in dying,
                                    If there is any taste left, it is in lamentation;

My thoughts are agitated in my heart,
                                    My emotions are seeking manifestation,

In the Ummah there is none capable of visualization,
Nobody sympathises with me, nobody has compassion.

Song Of Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                               Song  Of Despair Part- 14
                                                        (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

O Allah! Ease the hardship of the Ummah,
Bless the Muslim Ummah as Thou blessed Sulaiman,

Make love, the scarce kind, prevalent again,
Make the so called Musulmans of India the real Musulman,

From our sorrowful heart drips frustration,
From our wounded breast rises lamentation.

Alas! traitors of  the Ummah leaked the secrets to enemies,
What a tragedy! The flowers do tale-bearing of garden,

Rule of Muslims ended and they became slaves,
The devotees of Islam became martyrs to enter the heaven,

It is Iqbal who is still absorbed in thoughts,
His heart still harbours a storm of thoughts.

(Suggestions invited to make the above more exact.)

Song Of Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                                   Song Of Despair Part- 13
                                                          (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

Outsiders are sitting by the spring in our garden,
Enjoying the song of cuckoo with cup of wine in hand,

Away from this bustle are sitting Muslims in solitude,
Waiting for Thy divine inspiration to descend,

Bless Thy devotees with the taste of self realization,
Order the divine fire to rekindle their soul with motivation.

The vagrant Ummah is back on the road to Hijaz,
Self realization has inspired the Ummah to rise,

Every Muslim’s heart is full of humility,
Thy favour is prayed! Their faculties will harmonise,

Entire Ummah is anxious to reach its ideal,
Again it is poised to pass through the ordeal.

Song Of Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                            Song Of Despair Part- 12
                                                 (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

Thou perfected Islam on the peak of the Faran,
At a prophetic call people entered into Islam in masses,

The ultimate of devotion was a burning fire in the heart,
This burning fire infused a life of holiness in masses,

Why today our hearts are devoid of that burning fire?
We are the same scorched firewood, doth thou not remember?

Muslims no more raise revolution to change their state,
They are no more provoked by the plight of the Ummah,

Neither they have that courage nor that ego nor conscience,
House of Islam is deserted as Muslims have forsaken the Sunnah,

Would that auspicious and blessed day come back to us again!
Would Thou be the core of our devotion once again!

(Suggestions invited to make the above more exact.)

Song Of Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                              Song Of Despair Part- 11
                                                   (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

Did we forsake Thee or the prophet Muhammed?
Did we adopt idolatry or forsake opposing idolatry?

Did we forsake love or the madness of love?
Did we forsake the tradition of Owais and Salman? *

We keep the fire of Thy takbeer hidden in our mind,
We keep the life of Bilal the Negro as our guide.

Well! Our actions are no match to that of our ancestors,
In us, their sense of obedience too may not be there,

All our actions may not be directed towards Thee,
Consistency of commitment to faith too may not be there,

Earlier we were Thy chosen class now are others,
Earlier we enjoyed Thy blessings now do others.

*(Owais Razi., Salman Razi. and Bilal Razi. were
the companions of the prothet Sal.)

Song Of Despair (Iqbal's Shikwa)

                                                   Song Of Despair Part- 10
                                                            (Iqbal’s Shikwa)

Islamic rules are gone too, Thy devoted rulers too are gone,
The devoted saints who prayed day and night too are gone,

They devoted their lives for Thee, Thou made them eternal,
Their time of existence and influence did not last long,

Thy devotees are gone with a divine promise from Thee,
They will never come back nor be replaced by Thee.

Love for Muhammed is same, heart of the Muslim is same,
In the arena of the world, the bustle of the Muslims too is same,

Core of love is same, atttraction of the beloved too is same,
Ummah of the prophet Ahmed is same, Thou too art same,

Then, this displeasure without reason is not understandable,
Thy wrathful rebuke to Thy devotees is not understandable.

(Suggestions invited to make the above more exact.)
